In response to global geopolitical tensions affecting LPG supply nationwide, the Indore district administration has temporarily stopped commercial LPG cylinder distribution to prioritize domestic households’ needs. This measure is part of a broader effort to ensure uninterrupted cooking gas availability for ordinary families. Similar steps have been taken in various states to manage reduced imports and increased demand.
Food Supply Officer and Indore District Supply Controller, M.L. Maru, confirmed the suspension of commercial supply but assured emergency relief provisions, including small five-kg FTL cylinders for families without a domestic connection or facing shortages. Additionally, KYC verification and new LPG connection issuance processes have been put on hold for a month, with plans to resume once supply conditions stabilize.
Notably, Subscription Vouchers (SVs) for new gas connections have not been issued by major oil companies since early March, although applications are still being accepted, and KYC formalities are being processed. Maru emphasized that eligible consumers will receive new connections once SV issuance resumes. To mitigate inconvenience, the administration has instructed LPG agencies and oil company officials to ensure immediate availability of 5-kg FTL cylinders for interested consumers.
The district administration urges consumers to use LPG responsibly and avoid stockpiling to maintain supply balance. This temporary adjustment aligns with state and Central government initiatives to prioritize domestic cooking fuel needs during supply challenges. Regular reviews of the situation are ongoing, with services expected to return to normal once supply chains stabilize. Consumers in need of assistance are advised to contact local gas agencies or the district supply control room.
