Intel India has partnered with Digital India BHASHINI Division to introduce BHASHINI’s Vidyalekha, a real-time translation and transcription tool, on Intel-based AI PCs. This collaboration aims to benefit students, education content creators, schools, and academic institutions by providing multilingual AI accessibility. BHASHINI Vidyalekha, an offline utility, aids in bridging language gaps for college students by transcribing English lectures into the student’s preferred language.
The collaboration between Intel and BHASHINI focuses on democratizing multilingual AI, ensuring inclusive, device-level innovation in every classroom. This initiative enables Indic language models and applications to operate on AI PCs powered by Intel Core Ultra series processors, facilitating high-performance AI inferencing on end-user and edge devices. Recent advancements allow AI workloads to run locally on PCs, ensuring low latency performance and operational independence from network connectivity.
At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Intel and BHASHINI showcased automatic speech recognition models, text-to-speech, and translation models on Intel Core Ultra Series powered AI PCs. By optimizing BHASHINI and AI4Bharat models for Intel Core Ultra processors, efficient execution across CPU, GPU, and NPU resources is achieved, maintaining high performance and power efficiency. BHASHa INterface for India (BHASHINI), an AI-powered language technology initiative under MeitY, empowers multilingual AI capabilities, bridging literacy and language barriers.
