Intelligence agencies are closely monitoring activities in Satkhira and Chuadanga, Bangladesh, as efforts increase to send illegal immigrants ahead of the West Bengal elections. The ISI is influencing Jamaat-e-Islami to facilitate a large-scale influx of illegal immigrants into West Bengal without terrorists. This move aims to alter West Bengal’s demographics significantly, according to an Intelligence Bureau official.
Concerns rise as Jamaat-e-Islami won seats in Satkhira and Chuadanga during Bangladesh’s recent national elections. Leveraging its ties with Jamaat, the ISI plans to facilitate a substantial illegal immigration wave. Multiple groups, including the Rohingya Solidarity Organisation and Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army, are collaborating with the ISI for this scheme.
Rohingya refugees in Cox Bazaar have been identified for potential infiltration attempts near the Bangladesh border. The operation involves sending small batches of 50 to 100 refugees in multiple operations leading up to the West Bengal elections. These immigrants are instructed to settle in Hindu-majority areas to influence significant demographic changes.
To support this operation, Madrasas along the border are preparing to accommodate these individuals. Coordination with border touts is crucial to ensure smooth illegal immigration. The authorities highlight the dangers of demographic changes, citing a past incident in Murshidabad where illegal immigrants engaged in criminal activities and attempted to declare independence.
Security agencies are advised to monitor not only illegal immigration but also the activities of terror groups like Harkat-ul-Jihad Islami and Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh. These groups pose a threat to West Bengal and northeastern states before or during the elections.
