Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed that the Iranian people hold no hostility towards Americans, attributing the US government’s actions against Iran as a “proxy for Israel.” In a letter to the American people, Pezeshkian clarified Iran’s stance on the ongoing conflicts involving the US and Israel.
Pezeshkian emphasized that Iranians do not bear ill will towards other nations, including Americans, Europeans, or neighboring countries. Despite facing historical foreign interventions and pressures, Iranians have consistently distinguished between governments and the people they govern. He highlighted that Iran has never pursued aggression, expansion, colonialism, or domination in its modern history, despite enduring occupation, invasion, and pressure from global powers.
The Iranian President criticized the portrayal of Iran as a threat, labeling it as a narrative fabricated by Israel to divert attention from its actions against Palestinians. He pointed out the US military presence and bases surrounding Iran, underscoring the threats posed by ongoing US aggressions launched from these bases. Pezeshkian condemned US President Donald Trump’s threats of targeting Iranian energy facilities, stating that such actions constitute war crimes with repercussions beyond Iran’s borders.
Pezeshkian accused the United States of engaging in a war with Iran on behalf of Israel, alleging that Israel aims to involve American resources and soldiers in its conflict with Iran for its own interests. He questioned whether “America First” remains a priority for the US government and highlighted the global choice between confrontation and engagement. The President’s remarks come amidst escalating tensions following joint attacks by Israel and the US on Iranian cities, resulting in casualties on both sides.
