External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, delivering warm regards from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Jaishankar expressed gratitude for the insightful discussions during the meeting.
The meeting follows Macron’s recent official visit to India in February, aimed at enhancing the strategic partnership between the two countries. Macron’s visit emphasized technology and innovation, including events like the India-France Year of Innovation 2026 and the AI Impact Summit 2026.
Additionally, Jaishankar visited the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Paris, foreseeing its role as a focal point for promoting Indian art and culture. He admired the cultural and spiritual heritage showcased at the center, highlighting its significance in strengthening bilateral ties.
The Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, managed by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, serves as a diplomatic asset to enhance Indo-French relations, aligning with commitments made during PM Modi’s discussions with President Macron to expand cultural connections in Europe.
During his visit to France for the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, Jaishankar underscored the importance of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) in enhancing global connectivity, particularly in light of geopolitical tensions. He stressed the necessity for secure trade routes and supply chains amidst ongoing conflicts in West Asia.
