External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with St Kitts and Nevis Foreign Minister Denzil L Douglas in New Delhi. They discussed developmental projects, health cooperation, digital capacities, and disaster response. Douglas, who also holds other ministerial positions, engaged in talks on regional and global matters.
The meeting was described by Jaishankar as productive, with a focus on enhancing ties between the two nations. Douglas, arriving in New Delhi after his engagements in Chandigarh, is seen as a significant step towards strengthening historical relations and expanding cooperation. The inauguration of the High Commission of St. Kitts and Nevis in India is also part of his visit agenda.
India and St Kitts and Nevis have a history of maintaining friendly relations. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in 2007 to improve Foreign Office Consultation mechanisms. Notably, Indian nationals do not require visas to enter St. Kitts & Nevis, reflecting the supportive stance of St Kitts and Nevis towards India in international forums.
