External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held discussions with US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor in New Delhi, focusing on various aspects of bilateral relations. Jaishankar welcomed Gor, expressing optimism about his role in enhancing ties between India and the United States.
Gor, emphasizing the robust India-US defense partnership, highlighted the significance of the 10-year agreement signed in 2025, aiming to further solidify the relationship. He underscored the continuation of joint exercises and ongoing defense sales as key elements of the strong bilateral ties.
During India’s Republic Day celebrations, Gor commended the event as a tribute to India’s Constitution and democratic ethos. He lauded the strategic partnership between the US and India, symbolized by US-made aircraft soaring in the Indian skies.
In another engagement, Jaishankar met with a US Congressional delegation, including Mike Rogers, Adam Smith, and Jimmy Patronis, alongside Sergio Gor, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations, developments in the Indo-Pacific region, and the Ukraine conflict. Jaishankar highlighted the importance of such interactions in fostering the India-US relationship.
