Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed doubts about the trustworthiness of US President Donald Trump, highlighting inconsistencies in his statements. Abdullah remarked that Trump’s unpredictable behavior and use of inappropriate language on social media raise concerns about his leadership. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for Trump to act responsibly as the President of America, given the impact of his words.
Abdullah also questioned the rationale behind the conflict in West Asia, pointing out that Iran did not initiate the war. He criticized the handling of the situation, suggesting that the war had unintended consequences, such as Iran’s threat to impose toll taxes on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The Chief Minister urged the US to ensure a lasting ceasefire by addressing ongoing conflicts, including Israel’s actions in Lebanon.
Regarding Pakistan’s role in mediating the ceasefire in West Asia, Abdullah refrained from labeling it a success or failure of India’s foreign policy. He acknowledged Pakistan’s involvement in achieving the ceasefire and speculated that India’s close ties with Israel might have hindered its ability to play a similar role. Despite the mediation by Pakistan, Abdullah stressed the importance of the ceasefire agreement.
