In a significant achievement, the Cyber Cell team in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, has successfully retrieved 240 missing mobile phones and returned them to their owners. The recovered devices, valued at around Rs 45 lakh, were traced using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal in collaboration with cyber cell units from various police stations in the district.

This recovery effort is part of an ongoing initiative that has already located and returned a total of 1,400 lost or stolen mobile phones to their rightful owners. The recovered phones were not only found in different parts of Jaunpur but also in several other districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Azamgarh, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Kanpur, Ballia, Pratapgarh, and Bhadohi.

Furthermore, law enforcement agencies have successfully tracked and retrieved numerous phones from states like Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Rajasthan, highlighting the coordinated efforts across state borders.

The recovered mobile phones encompassed a variety of popular brands, including OnePlus, Vivo, Redmi, Oppo, Realme, Tecno, Poco, Nokia, and Samsung. The beneficiaries expressed immense joy upon reclaiming their lost devices and commended the police for their swift and efficient actions.

SP City Ayush Srivastava, while addressing the media, encouraged citizens to report any lost or stolen mobile phones promptly at the nearest police station and file complaints on the CEIR portal for quick tracking and recovery. He also emphasized the importance of public awareness in preventing cybercrimes and advised people to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions.
