Jay Pawar, the son of late Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, shared his sentiments on the upcoming Baramati by-election scheduled for April 23. Expressing his surprise at having to campaign without his father, Jay Pawar emphasized his reliance on local support for the election. His mother, NCP candidate Sunetra Pawar, is set to file her nomination on April 6, while Jay focuses on grassroots organizing rather than personal political aspirations.
Addressing concerns about the potential merger of NCP factions and the “Pawar vs Pawar” narrative, Jay Pawar underscored family unity, stating that they are united and leave political matters to senior leaders. He refrained from commenting on the merger discussions, deferring to party elders for decisions. Jay Pawar also postponed a press conference, citing overlapping points covered by his cousin Rohit Pawar, and emphasized the importance of awaiting the final investigation report before making definitive statements to avoid confusion.
In response to questions about accountability in his father’s aircraft crash, Jay Pawar raised concerns over the preliminary report’s incompleteness and questioned the lack of accountability on the aviation firm, VSR Ventures. He demanded the arrest of Rohit Singh, the company owner, and urged the DGCA to ground the firm’s fleet until the final report is released.
