A month after Sunetra Pawar became the NCP national president following her husband Ajit Pawar’s death, her son Jay Pawar has entered active politics. Jay Pawar has been appointed to the NCP’s apex committee, though his specific role is yet to be determined. Notably, Jay’s brother, Parth Pawar, is set to take the oath as a Rajya Sabha member after April 6.
Sunetra Pawar, in a letter to the Election Commission of India on March 10, named Jay Pawar as a member of the party’s apex committee. Jay Pawar’s inclusion in the apex committee occurred during a national convention of the NCP on February 26. This convention was held following the tragic death of Ajit Pawar in an aircraft crash.
The apex-level committee, considered the party’s highest decision-making body, is responsible for various organizational and political decisions. The Pawar family has a history of political involvement, with several members, including Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar, Supriya Sule, and Rohit Pawar, actively participating in politics over the years.
Jay Pawar, who had previously maintained a distance from politics, has now become actively involved, accompanying his mother, Sunetra Pawar, to different events. Anand Paranjape, the NCP’s chief spokesperson, highlighted Jay Pawar’s potential as a young leader with a significant legacy, indicating that he will soon be entrusted with a crucial role in the party.
