A jewellery shop near Patut Chowk in Patna fell victim to a robbery, as reported by the police. The thieves broke into the shop by damaging the wall and stole a significant amount of gold and silver ornaments, causing alarm among local traders. The shop owner, Rajneesh Kumar, discovered the break-in after villagers alerted him to the broken rear wall on Saturday morning.
The stolen items included silver anklets, toe rings, coins, rings, as well as gold rings, chains, earrings, nose rings, and other valuable jewellery. Notably, a considerable quantity of ornaments reserved for customer orders ahead of the wedding season was also taken. The burglars went to great lengths to avoid detection by removing the DVR of the CCTV cameras and breaking all lockers and locks containing valuables.
Upon being informed, the Ranitalab Police promptly responded to the incident and launched an investigation. They are questioning nearby residents and have deployed forensic teams to gather evidence. The Station House Officer (SHO) of Ranitalab police station mentioned that the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team and fingerprint experts are on-site to collect evidence and analyze CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify suspects.
This robbery marks the second major jewellery theft within 24 hours in Bihar, following a similar incident in Samastipur where armed miscreants looted a jewellery shop of gold and silver ornaments worth over Rs 50 lakh on Friday afternoon. In response to these thefts, the police have increased patrols and investigations in the area.
