Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has traveled to Zurich, Switzerland, to participate in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos. He aims to present investment opportunities in Jharkhand on a global stage. Soren was welcomed at Zurich Airport by India’s Ambassador to Switzerland, Mridul Kumar, and is accompanied by an official state delegation.
CM Soren expressed his excitement about representing Jharkhand and India at this prestigious global event. He highlighted the significance of the WEF as a platform for discussions on inclusive development, emphasizing the need for a balance between economic growth and environmental sustainability. This marks Jharkhand’s first organized participation at a major global economic forum.
The official delegation, led by the Chief Minister, is set to engage with global industry leaders, multinational corporations, and potential investors during the WEF Annual Meeting. The focus will be on exploring investment prospects in various sectors such as mineral-based industries, industrial infrastructure, energy transition, sustainable development, tourism, and social inclusion.
Post the WEF, the Jharkhand delegation will visit London and Oxford in the United Kingdom to further promote investment, collaborate on policies, engage with educational institutions, and connect with the Indian diaspora. CM Soren is scheduled to deliver a special lecture and take part in a dialogue session at the Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford University, a first for an Indian Chief Minister.
The international tour is expected to play a crucial role in attracting investments to Jharkhand, boosting industrial activities, and creating employment opportunities. The delegation plans to return to Jharkhand on January 25.
