Even after more than 3 decades since its release, “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” remains a beloved choice for many movie enthusiasts, including Bollywood actress Kajol. The Academy recently shared its selection of iconic romantic films centered around travel on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). Among the highlighted classics were “DDLJ,” “You,” “Me & Tuscany,” “The Holiday,” and “Eat Pray Love,” prompting netizens to pick their favorite romance film involving travel.
Kajol, not surprisingly, cast her vote for “DDLJ” in response to The Academy’s post. The Academy, known for overseeing the Oscars and acknowledging international films online, often gives shoutouts to noteworthy works. Last year, on the 30th anniversary of the film, Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan unveiled a bronze statue of their characters from “DDLJ” in London’s Leicester Square.
Reflecting on the movie’s enduring impact, Kajol expressed how during filming, they never anticipated its immense global success among Indians and South Asians. She emphasized that “DDLJ” has become a significant cultural reference point for the Indian diaspora worldwide.
