The Karnataka unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded the resignation of Home Minister G. Parameshwara, accusing the police of failing to tackle the drug problem. BJP spokesperson M.G. Mahesh expressed concern over the rise of drug activities in Karnataka, particularly in Mysuru and Bengaluru.
Mahesh urged for the immediate resignation of Home Minister G. Parameshwara and the suspension of the Mysuru Police Commissioner. This call came after the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) uncovered a significant drug trafficking syndicate and an illegal drug manufacturing lab in Mysuru, seizing drugs worth around Rs 10 crore.
Home Minister Parameshwara expressed surprise at the NCB’s discoveries, contradicting the information provided by the state police. He pledged to review the situation. Mahesh emphasized the need for the Congress-led government to take strong actions against drug-related issues in Karnataka.
The BJP spokesperson highlighted the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, citing reports from the National Crime Bureau on drug manufacturing and distribution in Karnataka. He criticized the government for allegedly concealing incidents of drug-related crimes and accused the Home Minister of misleading the public.
