Karnataka BJP criticized the Congress-led government for allegedly disrespecting the Governor during discussions on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address. The BJP demanded an apology from the government in the Assembly, but Chief Minister Siddaramaiah denied any disrespect towards the Governor.
The heated exchange of arguments between the ruling party and the Opposition resulted in chaos in the Assembly, leading to the House being adjourned by Speaker U.T. Khader. Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka raised concerns about the alleged insult to the Governor by Congress members during the motion of thanks discussion.
Ashoka accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s legal advisor and MLA A.S. Ponnanna of questioning the Governor’s conduct and accused him of not fulfilling his constitutional duties. He also highlighted remarks made by the Law Minister about the Governor, demanding an apology from the House to resolve the matter.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah defended the government’s actions, stating that the issue would not have arisen if the Governor had read the speech prepared by the government. He rejected the demand for an apology, questioning the necessity for such an action.
