Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah campaigned in Bagalkot Assembly constituency for party candidate Umesh Meti during the by-election. He urged voters to choose Congress in the crucial bypoll. Siddaramaiah visited several villages, including Sutar Gunda and Nayanegali, to seek support for Umesh Meti, accompanied by other party leaders.
The Chief Minister emphasized that electing Umesh Meti would honor the late H.Y. Meti, who previously held the seat. He highlighted Meti’s role in establishing a medical college in Bagalkot. Siddaramaiah interacted with locals in Sutagundar, Nayanegali, and nearby areas during his campaign, encouraging unity within the party.
Accusing the BJP government of neglecting the Almatti issue, Siddaramaiah criticized their failure to issue gazette notifications or provide promised compensation. He pledged compensation for landowners affected by irrigation projects and assured timely payments. The Chief Minister also promised further healthcare facilities in Bagalkot, emphasizing his government’s commitment to fulfilling pledges.
Siddaramaiah pointed out the BJP’s unfulfilled promises, especially regarding farmers’ loans and support during the Covid period. He praised H.Y. Meti’s dedication to community welfare and questioned the BJP’s credibility. The Chief Minister stressed the government’s financial support to citizens and development initiatives, urging voters to support Umesh Meti for the late leader’s legacy.
