The Karnataka government reassured the public that there is an ample supply of auto LPG in the state, dispelling rumors of shortages. Auto drivers have faced challenges due to irregular gas availability, impacting their daily earnings. The government emphasized that oil marketing companies like IOCL, BPCL, and HPCL are maintaining a steady supply to address any fluctuations.
Responding to concerns, the government clarified that despite some variations in supply from private agencies, there is no actual scarcity of auto LPG. Supply levels between April 2 and April 6 ranged from 83 to 94 metric tonnes per day, with the highest supply recorded on April 5. On average, around 83.58 MT of gas has been provided daily to retail outlets.
Authorities are closely monitoring the supply chain and are prepared to take necessary actions if needed. They have also urged auto drivers not to queue up unnecessarily at gas stations. Meanwhile, the Centre has introduced new guidelines for LPG allocation to industries, with a focus on key sectors like pharmaceuticals, food, and agriculture, and provisions for units unable to transition to natural gas.
