Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara has requested a detailed report on the recent helium gas cylinder explosion at Mysuru Palace, resulting in the death of a balloon seller and injuries to four tourists. He emphasized the need for enhanced security measures in the area due to the high tourist footfall and instructed officials to collaborate with the Tourism Department to prevent such incidents.
Parameshwara expressed concern over the lack of regulations for small vendors in Mysuru, referencing a previous case involving a minor girl. He highlighted the importance of investigating the source of the helium gas cylinder used by the balloon seller and ensuring proper oversight of such activities in public spaces. The Minister directed authorities to thoroughly examine the procurement and handling of the cylinder, with the police actively investigating the incident.
The tragic blast claimed the life of the balloon seller, Saleem, and left several tourists injured, currently receiving treatment at K.R. Hospital in Mysuru. Eyewitnesses recounted the sudden explosion and its impact, with one survivor, Kotresh, describing the chaotic scene following the blast. Amid suspicions of foul play, Karnataka Police are looking into the possibility of deliberate intent behind the explosion, prompting the potential involvement of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the investigation.
