Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara stated that the state police confirmed no narcotics were found during Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raids in Mysuru. He expressed surprise at the NCB’s press release mentioning seizures in Karnataka, as local authorities reported no recoveries during the searches. Parameshwara assured that he would investigate the discrepancies between the NCB’s claims and the police findings.
Parameshwara detailed that despite an individual from Karnataka being apprehended outside the state with drugs and his vehicle seized, no narcotics were discovered during subsequent searches in Mysuru. He emphasized that the police are actively combating drug trafficking, including the interception of a new substance known as ‘hydro ganja’ valued at millions of rupees. The Home Minister refuted allegations of the state government’s failure to address the drug issue, highlighting ongoing raids and international drug networks being dismantled.
The NCB recently announced the dismantling of a major drug trafficking syndicate and a clandestine drug manufacturing unit in Mysuru. The operation resulted in the seizure of drugs worth approximately Rs 10 crore, along with cash, a vehicle, and chemicals. The NCB’s statement indicated the sealing of the manufacturing facility for further forensic examination. Additionally, the BJP criticized the Congress-led government for the drug-related incidents, threatening protests if immediate action was not taken.
