The Karnataka Police are investigating a helium balloon gas cylinder blast near the historic Mysuru Palace Police, suspecting foul play. The blast, which occurred on Thursday, resulted in the death of Saleem, a balloon vendor from Uttar Pradesh. Initial findings indicate that it was not an accidental explosion.
Authorities are considering the possibility of foul play due to the unusual circumstances surrounding the blast. Saleem, who had been selling balloons near the palace for about a week, was killed on the spot. Investigators are puzzled by his background and are looking into how he could afford an extended stay at a local lodge.
Police sources mentioned that Saleem’s identity was initially unclear, but it was later discovered that he had been residing at a lodge in Lashkar Mohalla. Further inquiries revealed that Saleem was not alone during his stay in Mysuru and was frequently seen with other individuals. The injured from the blast are currently receiving medical treatment at K.R. Hospital in Mysuru.
The incident took place during a 10-day ‘Maagi Utsava’ event organized by the Palace Board for the Christmas and New Year celebrations. The blast occurred while a musical program was ongoing, leading to the program’s abrupt halt. Authorities are taking the situation seriously, especially considering Mysuru’s status as a popular tourist destination during the holiday season.
