Karnataka to Verify NRI Quota Medical Admission Documents Through Embassies

The Karnataka state government has introduced new guidelines to ensure transparency and legitimacy in medical admissions under the NRI quota. The documents of students applying for medical seats under the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) quota will now undergo a rigorous verification process by the respective embassies of the countries where the applicants claim to have NRI status. This decision comes after reports of discrepancies in the authenticity of documents submitted by applicants, particularly regarding their NRI status.

The initiative aims to curb fraud and ensure that only eligible students benefit from the reserved NRI seats. Typically, the NRI quota offers a significant number of seats in prestigious medical institutions, but its benefits have been marred by cases of document forgery and misrepresentation of NRI status.
