Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan criticized Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the BJP for allegedly promoting hatred and violence against Muslims. Vijayan expressed deep concern over a video shared by the Assam BJP that he claims incites violence against Muslims. He highlighted the dangerous political direction he believes the BJP is taking.
Vijayan pointed out that the video featuring Sarma, according to him, encourages violence against Muslims, which he finds unprecedented and alarming. He emphasized that such actions go against India’s secular and democratic principles. The Chief Minister accused Sarma of engaging in hate speeches and divisive politics to garner votes ahead of the Assam Assembly elections.
Vijayan questioned the suitability of a person who allegedly incites violence against minorities to hold a high constitutional office. He criticized the BJP’s leadership for not taking action against Sarma, suggesting their silence implies approval. Vijayan also accused Sarma of openly expressing views that align with the BJP’s divisive agenda.
Vijayan highlighted Sarma’s political journey from the Congress to the BJP and accused him of playing a key role in the BJP’s communal strategy in the Northeast. He concluded by stating that the lack of consequences for Sarma’s statements against Muslim minorities indicates the BJP’s acceptance of such divisive ideologies.
