Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Executive Chairperson of Biocon Limited, voiced worries about the state of NH44, a crucial IT corridor linking the city to Hosur. She criticized the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on social media platform X for inadequate design and maintenance along the route.
Mazumdar-Shaw pointed out that the medians and barricades on the highway are substandard, with unpaved shoulders that are unsightly for commuters. She questioned whether NHAI upholds its reputation for developing road infrastructure nationwide, considering the poor condition of this section.
Expressing disappointment, she highlighted the lack of response from authorities despite numerous complaints over the years. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw directly tagged Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and NHAI’s official social media handle in her post, seeking attention to the issue.
In a separate incident last year, the prominent female industrialist raised alarms about the escalating garbage problem in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. She criticized the municipalities and state governments for neglecting this issue, which poses a severe threat to public well-being.
