Leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Umang Singhar, reiterated that Lord Hanuman was an Adivasi during an event in Sendhwa. Singhar highlighted the tribal warriors’ role in the Ramayana, referring to the “monkey army” in Lord Ram’s epic as tribal fighters.
Singhar emphasized the tribal community’s worship of Hanuman and their rich traditions, unique identity, and strength symbolized by the bow and arrow. He expressed determination to protect tribal culture and customs without compromise on their honor, cautioning against interference.
Singhar accused the BJP and RSS of attempting to convert tribals to Hinduism, disregarding their distinct culture. He stressed the Adivasis’ traditions, including reverence for the sun, cows, and crops, asserting their strength, identity, and self-respect.
Singhar asserted that Adivasis played a crucial role alongside Lord Ram in battles, worshiping Hanuman as their ancestor. He criticized the portrayal of tribals as monkeys in historical narratives, attributing Lord Ram’s victory to the Adivasis and defending their heritage against misrepresentation.
