Liverpool head coach Arne Slot is pleased about the imminent comeback of Mohamed Salah, highlighting the positive impact the Egyptian forward will bring to the team, irrespective of the available attacking choices. Salah is set to rejoin Liverpool after representing Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations third-place playoff against Nigeria in Morocco.
Slot, addressing the media before Liverpool’s Premier League match against Burnley, stressed Salah’s significance to the club and played down any past issues. He expressed, “Mohamed has been extremely important for this club and for me as well. Even if I had 15 attackers, I would still be happy to welcome him back. That shows how valuable he is to the team.”
The Dutch coach refrained from disclosing specifics of his conversations with Salah, maintaining the privacy of their interactions. Slot emphasized the confidentiality of discussions between player and coach, stating, “What we discuss on the phone, or face-to-face, stays between us. That applies to all my players.”
Salah, a pivotal figure since joining Liverpool in 2017, had a remarkable last season, securing the Premier League Golden Boot with 29 goals as the club claimed its 20th league title. Despite a slower start this season with only four goals, Slot confirmed Salah’s expected return next week, following the completion of his national team duties.
Liverpool is gearing up to face Marseille in the Champions League and Bournemouth in the league. After a challenging period earlier in the season, the team is now on an 11-match unbeaten streak across all competitions. Slot noted the growing confidence among players, highlighting improvements both physically and mentally, aiming to elevate the season to a higher level.
