Lokayukta officials conducted raids at 10 locations across Bengaluru, Madikeri, and Mysuru districts in Karnataka. The raids were in connection with allegations of amassing assets disproportionate to known sources of income against Sardar Sarfaraz Khan, a Personal Assistant to State Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan. Simultaneous searches were carried out at various properties, including Sarfaraz Khan’s residence, coffee estates, and a resort allegedly owned by him.
In Bengaluru, the raids targeted Sarfaraz Khan’s residence in Halasuru and six other houses in different parts of the city. Additionally, two coffee estates in Madikeri district and a resort in H.D. Kote taluk of Mysuru district, reportedly belonging to Sarfaraz Khan, were also searched. Sarfaraz Khan is currently working in the State Housing Department.
Separately, Lokayukta Police arrested an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in Bengaluru for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe. The ACP, identified as Krishnamurthy of Malleswaram subdivision, was caught red-handed accepting Rs 30,000 from a hotel owner. The arrest followed a complaint lodged by the hotel owner, who accused the ACP of demanding a monthly bribe of Rs 32,000.
The Lokayukta Police took ACP Krishnamurthy into custody for further investigation after catching him accepting the bribe. Legal proceedings are ongoing in this matter.
