Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced a six-wicket loss against Delhi Capitals (DC) in their IPL 2026 debut match. Despite a subpar batting performance, LSG’s bowlers posed challenges for DC. DC successfully chased down a target of 142, led by Sameer Rizvi’s unbeaten 70.

Franchise owner Sanjiv Goenkar expressed confidence in captain Rishabh Pant and the team to bounce back strongly. He emphasized that the season for LucknowIPL is still open for new chapters. LSG struggled to build momentum while batting, with key contributions from Mitchell Marsh and Abdul Samad helping them reach 141 runs in 18.4 overs.

In response, LSG’s bowlers, including Mohd. Shami and Prince Yadav, initially troubled DC by taking early wickets. However, DC, guided by Sameer Rizvi’s impressive innings, managed to secure a comfortable victory in 17.1 overs. Despite the defeat, Goenkar assured fans of a stronger comeback in the upcoming matches.
