Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav revealed plans for a new bypass road in Ujjain costing over Rs 700 crore ahead of Simhastha Mahakumbh 2028. The groundbreaking ceremony for this project has already taken place during the International Conference “Mahakal: The Master of Time.” Chief Minister Yadav expressed that the bypass road is specifically designed for the upcoming event in 2028, aiming to enhance infrastructure in Ujjain.
Highlighting the significance of the Simhastha or Kumbh Mela globally, Chief Minister Yadav emphasized that it is the largest congregation worldwide. He assured full government support to ensure successful coordination for the grand event. The state government is not only focusing on spiritual and scientific progress but also on developing top-notch infrastructure to accommodate the anticipated 35 to 40 crore devotees during the Mahakumbh.
The new bypass road is expected to alleviate traffic congestion during the event, offering improved connectivity and smoother travel for pilgrims and visitors. In addition to this project, Chief Minister Yadav unveiled plans to transform Ujjain into the “Time Capital” and establish a modern Science City, aligning with the government’s holistic approach for Simhastha 2028.
Several other infrastructure projects have been announced for the Mahakumbh, including the enhancement and beautification of key roads leading to Mahakaleshwar Temple, creation of new parking areas, modernization of bus terminals, and upgrades to drainage and sewerage systems across Ujjain. The state government has allocated over Rs 2,500 crore for Ujjain’s infrastructure development in the next two years to ensure a world-class experience for pilgrims.
To further enhance the event’s grandeur, Chief Minister Yadav disclosed plans for a new helipad, improvements to airport facilities, and the development of smart city amenities. The government’s commitment lies in making Simhastha 2028 a well-organized and remarkable spiritual gathering on an international scale.
