Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced the state’s first “Agriculture Cabinet” meeting in Barwani district as part of the “Farmer Welfare Year 2026.” The initiative aims to boost farmer prosperity and rural development through innovative policies and coordinated efforts.
The unique cabinet format will involve 17 departments focusing on agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries, cooperatives, and industry to create a comprehensive roadmap for the agricultural sector. By convening in Barwani, a tribal-dominated region, the government aims to decentralize decision-making and address region-specific challenges.
Barwani, known for its agricultural production, especially bananas and cotton, will host the meeting to emphasize inclusive growth and empower tribal farmers. The session in Nagalwadi village will coincide with the Bhagoria tribal festival, adding cultural significance to the event.
Officials suggest that farmers can anticipate announcements on bonuses, subsidies, irrigation improvements, natural farming promotion, and market linkages during the meeting. The state’s focus on agriculture in 2026 follows previous initiatives, aiming to boost agricultural growth and alleviate farmer distress.
