Leaders of the Maha Vikas Aghadi, including Vijay Wadettiwar, Bhaskar Jadhav, and Aaditya Thackeray, have decided to boycott Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ customary tea meeting before the Maharashtra Legislature’s Budget Session. The opposition leaders are protesting against alleged government corruption, neglect of farmers, and the failure to fulfill promises like increasing financial aid under the Ladki Bahin Yojana.
Senior Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar has raised concerns about the death of Ajit Pawar in a plane crash, seeking clarity on the circumstances. He criticized the government’s agricultural policies, claiming adverse effects on soybean and cotton producers, and a significant reduction in cotton procurement.
Wadettiwar highlighted farmer distress, citing suicides and low earnings in Maharashtra. He accused the government of neglecting farmers and criticized its anti-farmer stance. Shiv Sena’s Bhaskar Jadhav also expressed doubts about Ajit Pawar’s death and criticized the government’s handling of key issues.
The leaders further criticized the government’s handling of schemes like Ladki Bahin Yojana and the Re 1 crop insurance, alleging corruption and failure to benefit farmers. They questioned the government’s response to recent ACB actions and raised concerns about power tariff hikes. Aaditya Thackeray criticized infrastructure safety and governance issues, while Congress’ Satej Patil objected to the Shaktipeeth Highway project, alleging mistreatment of farmers.
