The Maharashtra government has initiated the distribution of the January instalment of Rs 1,500 for the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, benefiting numerous women in the state. Minister for Women and Child Development, Aditi Tatkare, announced the commencement of transferring the honorarium to eligible beneficiaries on February 23. The funds are being directly credited to Aadhaar-linked bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
The delay in disbursing the funds was due to administrative technicalities and the state’s political situation following the recent passing of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Despite the delay, many women started receiving SMS alerts about the Rs 1,500 credit on Monday night. Minister Tatkare highlighted the government’s dedication to the scheme’s success under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar.
The government has allowed a window for corrections for women facing issues in receiving benefits due to errors in their e-KYC, especially those who made mistakes during the process. The state Women and Child Welfare department has extended the deadline for completing and rectifying eKYC details on the online portal until March 31, canceling the physical verification of ineligible beneficiaries.
Minister Tatkare emphasized the importance of correcting eKYC information for eligible sisters who have completed the KYC but are yet to receive benefits. The facility to rectify KYC details online will be available until March 31, 2026. The Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, a flagship initiative of the Mahayuti government, focuses on the economic empowerment, health, and nutrition of women in Maharashtra.
