Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis spoke at a public gathering in Assam’s Jorhat, starting with an Assamese greeting and the slogan “Jai Aai Axom,” which resonated well with the audience. He highlighted Assam’s cultural icons like Maa Kamakhya and stressed the BJP’s commitment to both regional identity and national unity. Fadnavis criticized the Congress for what he sees as a lack of focus on development and national interests, contrasting it with the BJP’s responsible approach.
Fadnavis urged political parties in India to unite in the face of global challenges, emphasizing the need to prioritize national security over political gains. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s frequent visits to Assam as a sign of the government’s dedication to the region’s progress, while accusing past Congress leaders of neglecting Assam. The Chief Minister credited PM Modi for India’s strength and stability, accusing the Congress of spreading misinformation.
During the rally, Fadnavis questioned Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi’s connection to Jorhat, challenging his involvement with the constituency. BJP candidate Hitendra Nath Goswami also sought support, expressing confidence in the voters’ backing for the party’s development agenda. The electoral competition in Jorhat is heating up as tensions rise between the BJP and Congress leaders.
