Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde assured that the Ladki Bahin Yojana, a key welfare program supporting women, will persist despite opposition doubts. The scheme provides eligible women with monthly financial aid of Rs 1,500, contributing significantly to women’s empowerment.
Shinde criticized opposition parties for questioning the scheme’s future and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to welfare programs. The state Budget for 2026–27 is scheduled to be presented in the legislature on March 6 during the Budget Session from February 23 to March 25, 2026.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis confirmed his role in presenting the state Budget and highlighted a Rs 20,000 crore increase in financial transfers from the Central government to Maharashtra. He acknowledged former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s contributions to past budgets and his influence on fiscal policy.
Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, participating in the Budget Session in a new capacity, recognized Ajit Pawar’s past involvement in budget presentations. Shinde criticized the opposition’s absence from the customary tea meeting, accusing them of political protests instead of engaging in legislative discussions.
The government’s focus remains on welfare measures and economic progress, with confidence that the upcoming Budget will cater to citizens’ needs and bolster the state’s development.
