West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee submitted her nomination from her hometown constituency of Bhabanipur in South Kolkata. The list of proposers in her nomination form showcased the diverse makeup of Bhabanipur, known for its cosmopolitan population. Notable proposers included individuals representing various communities like Muslims, Punjabis, Biharis, and Gujaratis.

Banerjee commenced her nomination journey from her residence on Harish Chatterjee Street, leading a procession to the Alipore Survey Building for submission, a short distance away. Accompanied by supporters including Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim and family members, she expressed gratitude to the people of Bhabanipur for their continuous support. Banerjee emphasized her lifelong connection to the constituency, stating her commitment to its residents.

Police precautions were taken to manage the crowd as Banerjee’s procession proceeded, attracting a large gathering of onlookers along the route. The Chief Minister interacted with the media post-nomination, underscoring her enduring bond with Bhabanipur. In the upcoming election, Banerjee faces opposition from Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, who is contesting from Nandigram and has previously defeated Banerjee in the 2021 elections.
