Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee cautioned the people of Jhargram about potential interference by the BJP from neighboring Jharkhand in the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections. She emphasized the need for vigilance and instructed party members to safeguard electronic voting machines even during power outages to prevent any tampering attempts.
Banerjee highlighted concerns about the BJP’s alleged attempts to manipulate the election by bringing in resources and individuals from outside West Bengal. She specifically mentioned monitoring railway stations to prevent the influx of money, drugs, and outsiders aiming to disrupt the electoral process.
The Chief Minister also addressed issues related to tribal communities, mentioning the passage of a bill in the State Assembly to recognize Sari and Sarna religions, which is yet to be implemented by the central government. She underscored the importance of preserving Kurmali language and culture, emphasizing the state government’s commitment to supporting tribal communities.
Banerjee criticized the BJP for what she described as neglecting promises made before elections and failing to uphold the cultural heritage and history of West Bengal. She urged Trinamool Congress workers to remain vigilant and protect the integrity of the electoral process until the votes are counted on May 4, emphasizing the significance of guarding the EVMs diligently.
Polling in Jhargram is scheduled for the initial phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections on April 23.
