A 25-year-old man in Mumbai was arrested for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a one-and-a-half-year-old girl in Dahisar, as confirmed by the police. The accused happens to be a relative of the victim’s father.
The victim, who resides with her parents in a Dahisar slum, was reported missing on February 10. Following the family’s alert, the police initiated a kidnapping case and scrutinized CCTV footage. Subsequently, it was revealed that the toddler had been taken to a secluded area in Dahisar, leading to the swift arrest of the accused on the same day.
The toddler, who underwent surgery and is currently recovering, was found near a drain based on information provided by the accused. She sustained severe injuries to her private parts, necessitating immediate medical attention at a specialty hospital in Mumbai.
The accused, identified as a laborer residing in the victim’s neighborhood, was promptly apprehended. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has taken notice of the incident, instructing a thorough investigation and ensuring the victim’s access to top-notch medical care. Shinde emphasized the importance of prioritizing the toddler’s safety and the investigation, advocating for stringent punishment for the perpetrators.
