In a peculiar case in Chhatisgarh’s Ambikapur district, a man surrendered to the police, citing visions of his deceased friend’s ghost. This confession resulted in the recovery of the buried body inside his own house. The incident unfolded during the night of March 24 and 25.
The accused, Brijlal Agariya, visited Mithlesh Kujur’s house while intoxicated and demanded a drink during the holy period of Navratri. When Mithlesh refused, an argument ensued, escalating into a physical altercation. In a fit of rage, Mithlesh fatally attacked Brijlal with a stick, leading to his death on the spot.
To cover up the crime, Mithlesh and his wife Rajkumari buried the body inside their house, concealing it with a plywood board and soil. They then fled to a relative’s place. However, Mithlesh began experiencing severe mental distress, claiming to see his friend’s ghost urging for proper last rites.
Rahul Bansal, City Superintendent of Police, mentioned that overwhelmed by fear and guilt, Mithlesh confessed to the crime. He voluntarily surrendered at Gandhinagar Police Station, leading the police to the hidden body. The authorities exhumed Brijlal Agariya’s body based on the accused’s information, initiating legal procedures and arrests.
