Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh launched 33 ambulances dedicated to maternity services across all 16 districts of the state. Funded by the North Eastern Council and procured by the Directorate of Health Services, Manipur, these ambulances aim to enhance maternal and child healthcare services statewide. Additionally, Singh participated in the nationwide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination Campaign for 14-year-old girls against cervical cancer at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal East district.
The HPV vaccination program was inaugurated virtually by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Ajmer, Rajasthan, and the Chief Minister actively engaged in various aspects of the campaign at JNIMS. During the event, Singh visited different facilities, interacted with medical staff and beneficiaries, and distributed vaccination certificates. The Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of young girls through initiatives like the HPV vaccination drive, which aims to prevent cervical cancer.
Prime Minister Modi highlighted the significance of the HPV vaccine in protecting girls from the Human Papillomavirus, a major cause of cervical cancer. Administered to girls aged 14–15 years in a single-dose schedule, this initiative represents a crucial preventive healthcare measure to combat cervical cancer and safeguard the health of future generations. In Mizoram, Health and Family Welfare Minister Lalrinpuii praised the Prime Minister for his efforts in advancing women’s healthcare nationwide and expressed concerns over the high incidence of cancer in the state, particularly due to lifestyle factors and tobacco use.
