Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, speaking at an election rally in Assam, commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for safeguarding the boundaries and interests of Manipur. He also appreciated Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for recognizing Manipuri as an associate official language of Assam. Singh urged the Manipuri community to trust the BJP-led government under Sarma.
Rajdeep Goala, a BJP candidate, is contesting from the Udharbond constituency in Assam’s Barak Valley. Singh praised the Manipuri community in Cachar for their contributions to preserving Manipur’s culture and traditions. He highlighted the historical ties between Cachar and Manipur, emphasizing the support shown by the people of Cachar on important issues.
Singh criticized the Congress party, alleging neglect of the Northeast during its tenure, which led to unrest in the region. He contrasted this with the BJP’s efforts for the welfare and development of the Northeast. Singh also mentioned former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s establishment of the Department for Development of North Eastern Region as a significant step in the region’s progress.
The Chief Minister shared his personal connection with Assam, mentioning his role in promoting Taekwondo in the state. He highlighted the importance of the Northeast in India’s development and praised the progress under BJP governance in cities like Guwahati. Singh campaigned for BJP candidates in various constituencies, urging support from the Manipuri community and endorsing suitable candidates with a background in social service.
