Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh led an all-party meeting to address the aftermath of a bomb blast in Bishnupur district that tragically killed two children and injured their mother. The meeting, attended by representatives from various political parties, strongly denounced the attack and highlighted the importance of restoring peace and harmony in the region. Leaders from both ruling and opposition parties vowed to cooperate in restoring normalcy and urged the public to maintain calm.
The meeting, held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, emphasized the need to swiftly identify and apprehend the perpetrators of the attack, ensuring they face legal consequences. It also called upon the public to refrain from any violent activities and cooperate with authorities to uphold law and order. Notable leaders, including former Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and former Deputy Chief Minister Y. Joykumar Singh, were present at the gathering.
In response to the incident, the Chief Minister announced that the investigation into the bomb attack would be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The attack, attributed to suspected Kuki militants, resulted in the tragic deaths of two young children and injuries to their mother. To prevent further unrest, the Manipur government imposed a three-day suspension of internet and mobile data services in five districts and enforced an indefinite curfew in several areas.
