Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla praised the ‘Ima community’ for their enduring strength and moral leadership during the inauguration of the Khwairakpam Krishnagopal Memorial Building in Ningthoukhong. The building, dedicated to the Community Health Centre (CHC), aims to enhance healthcare infrastructure, particularly focusing on maternal healthcare with a new maternity ward. Bhalla emphasized the significant role of women and mothers in Manipuri society, highlighting the Ima community’s historical contributions to justice and peace.
The Governor expressed optimism that the new facility would inspire others to contribute to nation-building efforts and serve as a symbol of compassion and unity. He lauded the Gojendro Foundation for its philanthropic work in constructing the building for the CHC’s upgradation. Bhalla stressed the importance of improved maternal healthcare access for ensuring safer motherhood and healthier future generations, underscoring the synergy between public service and philanthropy.
During the event, representatives of the CHC raised concerns about service delivery and equipment limitations, while Minister for Home, Youth Affairs and Sports Konthoujam Govindas Singh and several MLAs from various Assembly constituencies were also present to mark the occasion.
