Suresh Koda, also known as Mustakim, a Maoist wanted with a Rs 3 lakh reward, surrendered to the Bihar Special Task Force (STF) on Wednesday. He turned himself in along with a collection of weapons and ammunition. Suresh Koda, who had been part of the Maoist movement for about 25 years and was a member of the Special Area Committee (SAC), faced around 60 cases related to Naxalite activities in Munger, Lakhisarai, and Jamui districts.
Senior police officials, including the Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Munger range, were present during Koda’s surrender. Authorities mentioned that Suresh Koda was implicated in various serious incidents, including multiple murders, and was known to use sophisticated firearms like AK-47 rifles. The surrender led to the recovery of a significant amount of arms and ammunition, including INSAS rifles, AK-47 rifles, magazines, and cartridges for various rifles.
Police highlighted that continuous anti-Maoist operations in the hilly and remote areas of Munger district have significantly disrupted the organization’s activities in the region. The sustained pressure from security forces played a crucial role in Koda’s decision to surrender. Recent surrenders, such as those of Babulal Koda, Narayan Koda, and Vinod Koda on December 28, 2025, and another Maoist member on July 27, 2025, were also attributed to intensified operations against Maoist groups.
Authorities emphasized that the recent surrender signifies the impact of coordinated efforts against Maoist factions in Bihar, indicating a gradual decline in their operations within the state. The reduction in Maoist activities in recent years is credited to the continuous and coordinated operations by the Bihar STF and the CRPF’s CoBRA battalion. These forces have conducted extensive anti-Maoist campaigns in key affected districts, leading to an enhancement in the internal security situation.
