The death toll in the Mathura boat accident has climbed to 15 as rescue teams found two additional bodies in the Yamuna River. One of the deceased individuals is identified as Yash Bhalla, also known as Yuvraj, from Punjab, while the other victim is Monica. Yash Bhalla’s body was discovered near Devraha Baba Ghat, close to Keshi Ghat, in a mutilated state.
Search operations led by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) recovered the bodies, which have been handed over to the police for post-mortem examination. Efforts are ongoing to locate one more missing person, with drones being utilized in the search. The Army’s Strike One Corps and NDRF teams are actively involved in the search and recovery mission in the area.
The tragic incident occurred on April 10 in Vrindavan when a boat carrying tourists, mainly from Punjab, capsized in the Yamuna River. The passengers were part of a group of approximately 150 pilgrims from Ludhiana and Muktsar districts who had traveled to Vrindavan. The boat mishap happened near Keshi Ghat after the vessel, carrying over two dozen individuals, veered into deeper waters and collided with an object in the river.
