Veteran opener Mayank Agarwal led Karnataka’s recovery to 144/4 at Tea on Day 3 of the Ranji Trophy final after Jammu and Kashmir’s strong post-lunch performance. Jammu and Kashmir took three quick wickets after lunch, but an unbroken 87-run partnership between Mayank and Shreyas Gopal steadied Karnataka’s innings.
Karnataka faced early setbacks in response to Jammu and Kashmir’s 584, with Sunil Kumar and Auqib Nabi Dar making crucial breakthroughs. Auqib’s exceptional spell removed key batsmen, leaving Karnataka struggling at 57/4. However, Mayank’s composed and authoritative innings, along with Shreyas Gopal’s support, helped Karnataka rebuild their innings.
Mayank’s innings, marked by controlled aggression and smart shot selection, saw him reach an unbeaten 86 at Tea. The partnership between Mayank and Shreyas provided much-needed stability to Karnataka, although they still trail by a significant margin and need to avoid the follow-on against a disciplined Jammu and Kashmir attack.
