Mindy Kaling makes a comeback to Hulu with the ensemble comedy ‘Murray Hill’

Mindy Kaling, the talented Indian American actress, comedian, screenwriter, and producer, is making a comeback on Hulu with her latest project, ‘Murray Hill,’ after the success of ‘The Mindy Project’ on the same platform six and a half years ago.

This new single-camera comedy, produced in collaboration with Warner Bros. TV, where Kaling has an overall deal, caught the attention of multiple buyers early in the year. Eventually, Hulu secured the project in a competitive situation with a script-to-series commitment.

‘Murray Hill,’ written by Kaling herself, follows the lives of five ambitious twenty-somethings in Manhattan’s upscale neighborhood of Murray Hill. As they pursue professional success, they also navigate the complexities of personal happiness.

Kaling serves as an executive producer through her company, Kaling International, in partnership with Howard Klein from 3 Arts Entertainment. Jessica Kumai Scott from Kaling International is the co-executive producer.

Excited about the project, Kaling shared on Facebook, “I thought it might be fun to write a show about young people in the most glamorous neighborhood in the world. So excited to be back with my gang at Hulu.”

This reunion with Hulu marks Kaling’s return to the platform where her first series as a creator, ‘The Mindy Project,’ found success after being canceled by Fox. ‘The Mindy Project’ continued for three more seasons as a Hulu original, becoming one of the platform’s early hits in original programming.

Craig Erwich, the current president of Disney Television Group, who previously led Hulu’s original content, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, “Mindy has been a beloved member of the Hulu family, so this deal is a natural extension of our relationship.”

Since ‘The Mindy Project,’ Kaling has co-created and developed successful series like ‘Never Have I Ever’ for Netflix, and ‘The Sex Lives of College Girls’ and ‘Velma’ for HBO Max. ‘Murray Hill’ marks her return as a solo creator, highlighting her continued innovation and creativity in the entertainment industry.
