An incident in Bengaluru involving a minor boy filming women inside a washroom at Sandhya Cinema Theatre on January 4 has led to his detention by the police. The juvenile was caught allegedly recording videos inside the women’s washroom and was rescued by the police after being surrounded by female patrons. Efforts are underway to locate another juvenile suspected to be involved in the incident.
On receiving information from the ‘Namma 112’ helpline about the disturbance at the cinema theatre, the police promptly responded and brought the situation under control. Following a complaint from female patrons, the juvenile in conflict with the law and his mobile phone were taken into custody for investigation. The management committee of Sandhya Cinema Theatre is also under scrutiny in connection with the case.
Recent incidents in Bengaluru, including cases of secret recordings and sexual harassment, have sparked public outrage. In one instance, a 19-year-old man was arrested for secretly filming women at public places and posting the videos online. Another case involved a man arrested for sexually harassing a woman in broad daylight. Efforts to address such incidents and ensure public safety are ongoing in the city.
