The brutal rape and murder of a minor girl in Kusumbha village, Jharkhand, has led to widespread public anger in Hazaribagh. Following the incident, the BJP and local residents organized a ‘Hazaribagh Bandh’ in protest. Demonstrators, including Hazaribagh MP Manish Jaiswal and other officials, marched through the streets demanding the swift arrest of the accused and stringent action.
Protesters gathered in various areas, such as Hazaribagh city and the Vishnugarh block headquarters, urging authorities to take immediate action. The demonstrators, including political figures like Hazaribagh MP Jaiswal and district BJP President Vivekananda Singh, called for justice and closure of markets. Markets in different localities, including Vishnugarh police station area and Jhumra Market, remained shut, affecting normal life.
Allegations were made by protesters regarding the delay in arresting the main suspect, even six days after the crime. They criticized the police for the deteriorating law-and-order situation in the state. The incident was likened to the infamous Delhi ‘Nirbhaya’ case, raising concerns about the safety of women in the region.
