New Zealand’s left-arm spin bowling all-rounder Mitchell Santner has linked up with the Mumbai Indians (MI) team for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Santner’s arrival in New Delhi was confirmed through a video posted by the five-time champions on their social media platforms. He is set to be available for their upcoming match against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Santner’s inclusion in the MI squad bolsters their spin bowling options and adds depth to their lower middle order, providing a significant boost to the side led by Hardik Pandya. Known for his consistent performances in limited-overs cricket, Santner played a crucial role in New Zealand’s runner-up finish in the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup, where he showcased his all-round skills by picking up wickets and scoring runs effectively.
Having previously represented Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, Santner brings valuable experience to the Mumbai Indians. The team is also anticipating the return of off-spin bowling all-rounder Will Jacks, who has been on a break due to personal reasons. After their match against DC, MI is scheduled to face Rajasthan Royals at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati.
