Mizoram has kickstarted preparations for the Census of India 2027, making it the first state in the Northeast region to do so. Chief Minister Lalduhoma completed his self-enumeration under Phase-I using an online portal, marking the beginning of this significant process. The initiative aims to promote digital participation and awareness among citizens, with other officials also participating in the self-enumeration process.
The self-enumeration process in Mizoram involved Home Minister K. Sapdanga and PWD Minister Vanlalhlana completing their enumeration at their respective residences. Senior officials from the state government and the Census Department facilitated the process, emphasizing the importance of citizen involvement. The Census of India, 2027 will be conducted in two phases, with the House Listing and Housing Census starting on April 1 in select states and Union Territories.
This upcoming Census will witness a digital approach for the first time, offering citizens the option of Self-Enumeration. The period for Self-Enumeration in Mizoram and other regions will run from April 1 to April 15, followed by the House Listing and Housing Census until May 15. Citizens can conveniently complete their self-enumeration by visiting the official portal, generating a unique Self-Enumeration ID for inclusion in the Census. The government encourages all residents to utilize this user-friendly option for accurate data submission.
